Put This Honey-Cucumber Mixture on Your Face For 15 Min to ERASE Dark Circles and Bags

As someone who constantly has dark circles under their eyes, I am very familiar with all of the complimentary greetings that come along with them. “Rough night?”, “Did you get enough sleep?” or my personal favorite “You look like hell.” Although the people who makes these inquiries may be well meaning, it gets fairly irritating and can make some people insecure about the way they look. This is why we’re going to take a look into what exactly causes these dark circles and what we can do to prevent them.

What Causes the Dark Circles Under Our Eyes?

When people see that you have dark circles under your eyes, they usually suspect you were up all night and are currently recovering from excessive alcohol consumption. While it is true that a lack of sleep and alcohol can contribute to this darkness, there is more to it then that. Here are some of the various causes of the dark circles under our eyes.
Genes: Dark circles under the eyes can even effect people in their childhood and are often a hereditary trait. In some children, this goes away as they grow older, but some of them keep the condition for life. If you have a family history of having dark circles under the eyes then this may be the reason behind it.
Congestion: Nasal congestion can cause the blood vessels in the area around your eyes to dilate. This causes that area to darken. If you are experiencing an allergic reaction or are sick with an upper respiratory infection than this may be the cause of your dark eye circles.
Oversleeping: Despite the most commonly recognized source of dark eyes circles being a lack of sleep, oversleeping can cause these circles to develop as well.
Abnormalities in Skin Pigmentation: The skin that surrounds your eyes is thinner compared to the rest of your face. This makes the blood vessels in that area more easily visible. This could be the reason behind an irregular distribution of melanin, which is the substance that gives your skin it’s color, which causes dark circles to appear underneath the eyes.
Exposure to Sun: The sun causes your body to produce more melanin, possibly leading to increased darkening of the eyes.
Lifestyle: Excessive smoking and drinking contributes to dark circles under the eyes. Also people who tend to use stimulants such as coffee or amphetamines may get less sleep, causing these dark circles.
Age: As we get older we lose some of the fat and collagen that surrounds our eyes. This, combined with increasingly thin skin, can increase the appearance of dark circles under the eyes.
Excess Salt: Consuming too much salt or sodium causes fluid retention, which can occur in the eyes and produce dark circles.

How to Get Rid of These Dark Circles:

The best way to get rid of the dark circles under your eyes is to address the problem that is causing them. For example, if you believe the cause is due to a lack of sleep, try and get more sleep. If it is due to congestion, try to get rid of the congestion, if it is due to sun exposure then stay out of the sun etc.
Although this is the most efficient way to get rid of them, in some cases it is impossible to fix or even address the root cause of these dark circles. If that is the case, then try these natural home remedies for dark circles.
